Background and Foreground and Depth of Field

The hand is in focus in the foreground of the photo.The background of the photo is blurred as the focus of the photo is the hand.The background lighting is darker creating a better depth of field for the foreground of the photo which is the focus. I didn't have any trouble focusing the camera but it took some time to find the right background and angle for the perfect picture.
